>Yoga and health promotion

I’ve been a busy bee in the past few days…

The OU course started today with a face-to-face tutorial and I’ve been up to my eyeballs in theory and practice of promoting public health as well as wondering what any of this has to do with yoga!

According to emedicinehealth.com “In the health fields, yoga techniques are being applied in health promotion programs, substance abuse treatment programs, and as complementary treatment for diseases such as anxiety disorders, depression, coronary heart disease, cancers, and HIV/AIDS. Yoga is a low-cost self-help approach to well being.”

So, maybe it does have a link or two 😉

I know that I’ve done work for the Southern Health & Social Care Trust (and its predecessor) in various health promotion activities over the years and I am very nervous but excited about the links between health programmes and yoga in the future…
